FEDERATING SCHOOLS IN CARMARTHENSHIRE

 

 

To consider and comment on the following issues:

 

To consider the draft planning and scoping document and to decide on the participation of Members.

 

Reasons:

At the ECS Scrutiny Committee Forward Work Programme meeting held on the 5th June, Members asked for a focused scrutiny review on the federating of schools within the LA. The ECS Scrutiny Committee held on the 4th July 2019 agreed in principle that a one day investigative scrutiny review would be held on the 6th November 2019.

DRAFT PLANNING AND SCOPING DOCUMENT -

FEDERATING SCHOOLS IN CARMARTHENSHIRE

 

 

The Education & Children Scrutiny Committee has agreed to establish a one day investigative scrutiny review in to the Federating of Schools in Carmarthenshire.

 

The Committee’s discussions on the key aims and objectives for this task and finish review have been captured and developed into the appended Draft Planning and Scoping document which members of the Committee are asked to consider and agree.

 

The Committee is required to agree on the membership of a Review Group which should consist of up to 6 Members and be politically balanced (3 Plaid Cymru, 1 Labour, 1 Independent Group, and 1 New Independent Group/Unaffiliated). Members may also want to consider whether all Members should participate in the review day on the 6th November 2019.

 

The Task and Finish Group will arrange to hold its first meeting following the ECS Scrutiny Committee on the 4th September 2019 – following the Scrutiny Committee meeting. Officers from the Education & Children’s Services Department and Democratic Services will support the work of the Review Group.
