‘Mrs Edwards is a valued member of the Community and is a regular attendee at the Church.  She is a member of several organisations in Abergwili and is a very supportive and active member of the Community.

 

She is a past pupil at Abergwili School and was a very supportive parent when her 2 sons attended the School.  She was always willing to support and help at every school event.  She was a Parent Governor here for many years and was Vice Chair and Safeguarding Governor. She readily attended Governor training events and shared her knowledge with the Governing Body and rarely missed a meeting.  We would welcome her continued support if she was successful to return to the Governing Body.’

‘Ms Pugh’s current term of office is coming to an end and Ysgol Cwrt Henri’s Governing Body is very keen that she should be reappointed for a further term of service. She is an excellent governor; her financial expertise and sound judgement are especially valuable. As a former pupil of the School she also has a particular interest in seeing it thrive as an essential part of the local community.’

‘It is my pleasure to nominate Mr Owen for the position of LA Governor at Ysgol Llanedi. Mr Owen is a retired police officer, having worked for 30 years in the South Wales Police. Having lived in Llanedi for 23 years, he is familiar with the school in many respects.

He is capable of clear communication and has the ability to question and analyse data. He is always prepared to learn, work as a team and has good interpersonal skills. He has the appropriate literacy skills in both the English and Welsh languages.

I am confident that Mr Owen will be an asset to the Governing Body.’

As a former teacher, headteacher and inspector he has extensive experiences and it would be good to receive his views and support, as the school implements the new requirements of the Curriculum for Wales.’

‘Ms Phillips-Rees has had experience of being a Governor at Ysgol y Fro for several years.  Ms Phillips-Rees is currently the Chair of Governors and helped extensively during the last Estyn inspection.  She helps out in our school events organised in the community

 

She is a qualified teacher and has many years of teaching experience in various schools and is up to date in changes in education.   She is a former Community Councillor and current clerk to the Community Council. She is an active member of the Community and attends various events and helps on committees when required.’

‘Mr Morden has been a committed and valued member of the Governing Body of Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn for a number of years.  He has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to meetings, reflecting his long time involvement with youth and education services in Carmarthenshire.  He lives within the locality of the school and particularly understands the complexities and difficulties of providing balanced and inclusive education opportunities in a rural area.  He has been very supportive of the wellbeing strategies within the school and sits on the Wellbeing Sub-Committee of the Governing Body.  His understanding of the needs of young people and the links between attendance and behaviour has been valuable.  Extensive knowledge of the Welsh curriculum, the Donaldson reforms and the importance of vocational study are other overarching areas that he has been able to share with the Governing Body.  I fully endorse this nomination on behalf of Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn.’

‘Mrs Williams was a practising solicitor from 1980 to 1997 and from 1985 to 1996 as a practice partner.

Mrs Williams has vast experience in school governorship in Carmarthenshire. She has been an active governor in Nantgaredig Primary School since 2000, and firstly as a parent governor then LA governor in the former QE Cambria School and now Queen Elizabeth High School since 2002-03.

During this period she has held office as Vice Chair and Chair of Governors on a number of occasions, she has chaired numerous GB committees and been the ALN link governor at QE High for 10 years.

In 2008 Mrs Williams was appointed as a lay member of the EWC Fitness to Practice Committees which is a role she continues to uphold. From 2007 to 2015 Mrs Williams was also an Estyn Lay Inspector.

She has also shown further commitment as a PTA member and Chair and classroom volunteer.’

 

Mrs Starkey is seeking Mrs Williams’ re-appointment.
