BUSINESS AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS SERVICES
ANNUAL REPORT 2018/19

Context

The attached report provides members with information and statistics on work carried out by Carmarthenshire Business and Consumer Affairs Services (the service) in 2018/19.

Currently the service consists of Trading Standards, Licensing and Animal Health Services.

As well as its Regulatory Function and Statutory duties, the service has continued to maintain and develop links and initiatives within the community in general. In doing so, it contributes significantly to the Community Safety Strategy and corporate agenda, with particular emphasis to Safeguarding of citizens, the vulnerable and financially less secure sectors of Carmarthenshire Society.

In order to progress the service, we maintain a strong link to the Executive Board via our Executive Board Member, who has attended and assisted us in matters of community engagement, most notably in the aspects of work relating to financial detriment, safeguarding and community safety.

A detailed report is attached, which highlights the work undertaken by the service in 2018/19.
