COMMUNITIES DEPARTMENTAL BUSINESS PLAN 2017/20 PDF 130 KB Additional documents: Minutes: The Committee considered the Communities
Departmental Business Plan
The following issues were raised on those aspects of the report relating to Public Protection:
An observation was made in relation to page 3 of the plan which displayed a list of the current Executive Board Members. It was commented that to avoid misleading the public, the plan would need to be signed off by Members who would be elected in May. The Head of Public Protection & Housing clarified that the plan presented before the Committee today was a draft copy which would be updated accordingly following the Election process in May. Furthermore, following the new administration and election of Executive Board Members the Business Plan would be returned to the Committee once the priorities had been reconsidered.
An update was requested in relation to the implementation of the monitoring of shellfish in accordance with Welsh Government and FSA to ensure that they satisfy standards for commercial gathering. The Head of Public Protection & Housing stated that he was unable to provide a detailed update at this time, however, an update on this matter would be circulated to Committee Members.
Reference was made to the priorities which related to the Outdoor Recreation Services section. It was felt that the priorities identified were too concentrated around the area of Carmarthen and should be extended to include other areas of Carmarthenshire.
RESOLVED that the Communities Departmental Business Plan 2017-20 be received. |

Minutes: Reference was made to Minute 11, Environmental & Public Scrutiny Committee Actions and Referrals Update. Further to the request made to invite a representative from Valero to attend a future meeting. The Chair duly informed the Committee that in response to the invitation, Valero had declined the invitation and that a copy of the response had been circulated to all Committee Members via e-mail.
At this point, Councillor D Davies declared an interest as Chairman of Carmarthen Amateur Angling Association.
Strong disappointment was expressed regarding Valero’s lack of engagement. Following a brief discussion officers agreed to follow the matter up.
RESOLVED that the minutes of the Environment and Public Protection Scrutiny Committee held on the 3rd March 2017 be signed as a correct record.
