The Executive Board Member considered a report on Carmarthenshire County Council becoming a signatory to the adoption of a three Counties policy, under the provisions of Section 117, Aftercare Policy, of the Mental Health Act 1983. It was reported that the Act required Local Health Boards, Local Social Services Authorities and N.H.S Trusts to establish jointly agreed policies on providing services under Section 117, and that the current policy had been prepared jointly between the three Local Authorities of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire together with the Hywel Dda Health Board

The Executive Board Member in considering the report made reference to 11.2 thereof and queried the need for the inclusion of the first sentence relating to charging carers for social care services, on the basis the Policy related to services provided under S117.

The Head of Mental Health and Learning Development advised that if the Executive Board Member was to endorse the policy, subject to the above amendment, it would be necessary for that amendment to be forwarded to the policy partners for their consideration

RESOLVED that subject to the deletion of the 1^st sentence of part 11.2 of the policy, Carmarthenshire County Council becomes a signatory to the three Counties policy on Section 117 Aftercare Policy, produced in accordance with the provisions of the Mental Health Act 1983

RESOLVED that the decisions record of the meeting held on the 12^th May, 2015 be signed as a correct record.
