APPROVAL TO IMPLEMENT FEDERATION PROPOSALS (LOCAL AUTHORITY LED) PDF 255 KB Additional documents: Minutes: The Executive Board Member considered a report on the introduction of a process for the determination of school Federation proposals. It was noted that with the increasing need to consider federation between schools as an option to address current issues the Council would need to consider in detail the federation process (for LA led proposals) and, in particular, the determination of federation proposals.
The Report detailed the powers local authorities had in proposing federations, the federation process and options available in determining proposals with them being fully responsible for completing all stages of the process through to implementation, inclusive of determining whether or not to proceed with the federation. It was noted that whilst the Council had established processes in place for determining school re-organisation proposals, no such process was in place for determining school federation proposals.
The Executive Board Member was advised that although the collation of a federation report seeking the views of the stakeholders and preparation of a consultation report could be undertaken by the Modernising Education Team, the Council must decide on a process/person to determine the outcome of any federation proposals.
RESOLVED that the proposed process for determining the outcome of school federation proposals be approved. |
