Welsh Coastal Path (Llansteffan)

We the undersigned petition Carmarthenshire County Council to refrain from strimming the vegetation, between March to the end of August, on the portion of the Coastal Path from Scott Bay near Llansteffan up to Wharley Point. We would ask that the picnic area at the top of Second Steps continues to be strimmed for the benefit of those wishing to use the picnic table and benches at that spot. This will allow the wild garlic, primroses, blue bells, foxgloves and other wild plants to flourish and seed during the growing season.

Understandably the Council’s resources are tight and the number of Council employees doing this work is restricted as a result. Therefore, complying with this request would free up resources to clear paths in desperate need of more attention, as well as ensuring the natural beauty of this portion of the Coastal Path during the summer months.
A local litter pick/path clearing group (Clear up Crew) will ensure any brambles are kept in check during this period. Council representatives have been approached about this matter but with little success.

Started by: Rhian Worrell (Clear up Crew)

On reaching 300 registered electors of Carmarthenshire signatures a full council debate will be held.
