As a resident of Tirydail Lane in Ammanford, I am deeply concerned about the ongoing issues we face due to the current traffic and parking situation. This petition aims to address these problems by urging the local authorities to make Tirydail Lane a one-way street and enforce strict regulations against parking on pavements.
Personally, I have witnessed numerous incidents where vehicles are travelling way above the current 30mph speed limit, bringing huge distress to the residents who live there, especially those with young children. There are incidences where vehicles belonging to residents have been damaged due to traffic trying to pass each other on our congested lane & other drivers damaging the residents vehicles and then driving off without leaving any insurance details and damage unintentionally caused by passing pedestrians due to limited space caused by parked cars. This not only results in financial burdens for individuals but also creates unnecessary stress and inconvenience.
1) According to a study conducted by Transport Research
Laboratory (TRL), pavement parking poses significant risks for
pedestrians as it forces them onto busy roads.
2) The Royal National Institute of the Blind (RNIB) states that
pavement obstructions can be particularly hazardous for visually
impaired individuals who rely on clear pathways.
3) A report from Direct Line Car Insurance reveals that over 7
million people across the UK have had their vehicles damaged due to
inadequate parking spaces.
By addressing these concerns through appropriate measures such as making Tirydail Lane one way and prohibiting pavement parking, we can create a safer and more accessible environment for all residents. I kindly request the local authorities to consider this petition seriously and take necessary actions to implement these changes.
