SCHOOL TERMS AND HOLIDAY DATES FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2017/18 PDF 383 KB Minutes: The Executive Board Member considered a report detailing proposed school term and holiday dates for the 2017/18 academic year. It was reported that under the Education (Wales) Act 2014 local authorities and the governing bodies of voluntary aided and foundation schools had to liaise with each other to ensure term dates were the same or, as similar as possible, with the caveat that Welsh Ministers could direct the term dates if they could not be harmonised or, required changing. Having regard to the Act’s requirements, the following proposed school terms and holiday dates had been prepared in discussion and general consultation with neighbouring authorities:-
Easter Sunday – Sunday 1st April 2018; May Day – Monday 7th May 2018
The Executive Board Member was advised that should the proposed dates be approved, they would be subject to the harmonisation arrangements outlined above, and could not therefore be finalised until confirmation had been received from the Welsh Government.
RESOLVED that subject to Welsh Government confirmation, the School Term and Holiday Dates for the 2017/18 Academic Year be approved. |
